When I hear the words “breast cancer survivor,” I think “fighter.” These women decided to stand and fight against their cancer. And won. Hearing their stories is such an inspiration to us all. In my book, that makes them a hero.
Our talented unKIT instructor, Debby Lewis, really gets it. She encouraged us to embark on this Think Pink campaign. Her hero is Melissa Frances. If you don’t know Melissa, she is the owner of a wonderful scrapbook manufacturer called Melissa Frances. She is also a cancer survivor and staunch supporter. Her powerful story of survival resonates with cancer survivors and friends of survivors alike.
Debby created this beautiful canvas dedicated to her hero, Melissa, using this month’s unKIT. I just love these Memory Makers alphabet puffy letters on the canvas. I also love how Debby used the Basic Grey pink woodgrain patterned paper to hilight her journalling. Beautiful work.
Debby created her first scrapbook page when she was 9 years old. Her scrapbooking has evolved along with the industry. Today, she is the owner of Creative Dreams Studio, where she creates while staying home with her children. She is on the design team for On the Dot.She is inspired daily by her children and grandchildren to create and scrapbook beautiful memories. Debby specializes in mixed pattern layouts and her style ranges from the classic to the altered arts. She has a strong belief that the design must focus on the photos and the story – that is the heart of scrapbooking. Debby’s works have been published extensively and she has been the recipient of several awards displaying her many talents. Visit her blog Debby’s Dares for inspiration.
